Simcoe Hall Settlement House

A cornerstone of Oshawa’s charitable community since 1935, Simcoe Hall Settlement House offers an array of programs designed to support low-income families, children, and seniors. Their Food Bank serves hundreds of families each month, while their After-School Program, March Break Camp, and Senior Outreach Program provide education, enrichment, and connection across generations. Simcoe Hall’s mission is simple yet profound — to strengthen our community by meeting basic needs and creating opportunities for growth, dignity, and belonging.

Feed The Need in Durham

Feed the Need in Durham acts as the lifeline for more than 60 emergency food providers across the region - including food banks, shelters, and school programs. By collecting, sorting, and distributing over 1.5 million pounds of food each year, they help feed thousands of individuals and families facing food insecurity. Their focus on rescuing surplus food and redistributing it where it’s needed most ensures that good food never goes to waste - and no one in our community goes hungry.

From prenatal classes to employment readiness and early childhood development programs, Rose of Durham helps young families overcome challenges and build healthy, independent futures.  Every dollar donated helps ensure that no young parent ever feels alone on their journey.

Durham Outlook

For over 30 years, Durham Outlook for the Needy has been serving hot, nutritious meals to those who need them most. At St. Vincent’s Kitchen in Oshawa, volunteers serve hundreds of meals daily, offering not just food, but a warm smile and a sense of belonging. Beyond their meal program, they provide clothing, hygiene products, and fellowship to individuals experiencing homelessness or financial hardship. It’s a place where dignity, compassion, and community come together - one plate at a time.
