Cadillac moves up the JD Power Dependability SurveyMore great news from JD power for Cadillac announced today and Ontario Motor Sales is glad to share it with our customers! In fact, Cadillac was the only domestic brand to place in the Top 5 in the dependability study; it was the No. 3-rated brand, jumping from No. 9. Porsche was No. 2, with Toyota and Scion at No. 4 and No. 5. David Caldwell, spokesman for Cadillac, said the study is a reflection of the brand’s efforts to compete with global luxury automakers. “This study is interesting because it’s not opinions or related to people making projections, it reflects on the long-term experience,” Caldwell said. The study looks at problems experienced by original owners of 3-year-old vehicles during the past 12 months as a means of determining reliability, considered a major factor for car buyers when considering a vehicle.

Fully Electric Chevrolet Spark at Ontario Motor SalesMore great news for our Chevorlet Showroom!! Looks like General Motors has decided to make the all new spark fully electric adding ANOTHER long range electric vehicle to our showroom here at Ontario Motor Sales. “Chevrolet will produce an all-electric version of the Spark minicar for selected U.S. and global markets, including California,” Jim Federico, Chevy’s global vehicle chief engineer for electric vehicles said today! News of the electric Spark continues GM’s push to seize the mantle of “greenest automaker in the world” from Toyota Motor Corp, which makes the popular Prius hybrid car. Motivating GM’s move to all-electric are looming changes to federal US guidelines, which will require carmakers to produce more fuel-efficient vehicles. These changes, put forth by President Obama, will take effect in 2025.
GM began selling the Chevy Volt, a plug-in hybrid, in December 2010. The Volt can travel up to 50 miles using the only the battery, and get up the equivalent of 93 MPG when in all-electric mode. In gasoline-only mode, its mileage rating drops to 37 MPG, giving the Volt an overall fuel-efficiency rating of 60 MPG.

History of Ontario Motor SalesOntario Motor Sales Limited was established in 1923 at 99 Simcoe Street, South, in Oshawa, the present location of the Canadian Automotive Museum. In 1933 the dealership moved to 86 King Street, East, in Oshawa, a building which had a parking garage and included gas pumps. The franchise included all models, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Pontiac and Buick.
The company enjoyed a steady growth during the next twenty years which created traffic problems at the junction of King and Mary Streets. During 1955 the Oshawa Arena burned to the ground. This land, approximately ten acres, was purchased by Ontario Motor Sales Limited who built and moved to this property our present location, 140 Bond Street, West, Oshawa Today, in 2012, Ontario Motor Sales Limited has the Chevrolet and Cadillac franchises.
